The fruitiest and spiciest: a unique wine. It is in Alsace that this grape variety reaches all its perfection. Its dry character allows lovers to enjoy it as an aperitif or accompanied by specialties with a strong personality. Pairs well with spicy fish or meat, spicy exotic dishes, soft cheeses (the inevitable Munster), a spicy steak tartare, some desserts, and many others.

Both flinty reduction and rose notes play on the nose. The palate comes in with concentration and a pithy, phenolic texture that lends structure and backbone to this rich, rounded, almost oily but dry wine. Pleasant citrus-pith bitterness sits well with the bold, warm but dry generosity. It's best to let this come into its own. Drink 2025-2035.

A racy Gewürztraminer, boasting exuberant lychee, sappy peach and ginger layered with floral perfume. Despite the ripe lushness, this has good balance and definition, with dried green herbs, crushed stone and baking spices weaving through the lively, acidic finish. Drink now through 2028. 10,000 cases made, 3,500 cases imported.

The yellow-labeled, golden-yellow classic Trimbach 2018 Gewurztraminer opens with a clear, fresh and even deep and stony as well as spicy nose of grated nutmeg, lychee, roses and flint stones. Lush and fresh on the palate, this is a ripe yet dry Gewurz with a finely bitter, warm and slightly alcoholic finish. Munster cheese might be rich enough to balance the alcohol. Dried orange flavors on the aftertaste. 14% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted in January 2023.
